More than 500 people set out to grow their “Plan IQ” by registering for the Definiti Academy, a twice-yearly educational webinar series for retirement plan sponsors and financial advisors.

We structured the Plan Sponsor Track to help sponsors grow more confident in managing their retirement plans. The 2023 Fall Semester series covered a range of important topics, including SECURE 2.0 provision updates, cost-effective ways to supplement back-office plan administration and an in-depth look at the plan services Definiti provides. (See Sponsor Track details in sidebar.)

Two Days of Education for Retirement Plan Sponsors

If you couldn’t attend the Fall Semester of the Academy or missed a particular session, you can access the Plan Sponsor Track and Advisor Track webinar recordings, including these popular sessions from the Plan Sponsor Track:

  • Updates on SECURE 2.0 Provisions – This informative session discussed upcoming changes impacting Required Minimum Distributions, plan amendments and long-term part-time employees. The session also highlighted future provisions plan sponsors should consider, such as automatic enrollment and Roth catch-up contributions and was followed by a Q&A session.
  • Missing Participants & Stolen Assets – Taking its inspiration from true crime dramas, this presentation explored the case of missing plan participant “Mama Marge” and missing company funds connected from accountant “Candy Man.” Attendees gained insights into handling such situations from these fictious examples to improve retirement plan management and administration.
  • Cash Balance Plans for the Buyer and Seller – This session covered cash balance plan opportunities available to fund the purchase or buy-out of a business.

Retirement plan sponsors are welcome to watch Advisor Track sessions, including The Federal Influence on Retirement Plans featuring Pat Toomey, retired U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, and Brian Graff, Chief Executive Officer from the American Retirement Association, mentioned below.

Toomey shared perspectives on what comes next after SECURE 2.0 and tax matters related to retirement plans. Graff covered how financial advisors and third-party administrators, like Definiti, can help employees fill in the gaps on retirement savings needs and the future of U.S. retirement plans.

Three Days of Education for Retirement Plan VIPs

We invited financial advisors and platform partners to attend the Academy’s Advisor Track to discover new opportunities to better serve their clients’ retirement plans and grow their book of business.

The Advisor Track featured a keynote session (mentioned above) and a Super CE (continuing education) session, which offered up to 17 credit hours for Insurance, CFP, CIMA, CRPC and CRPS. (See Advisor Track details in sidebar.)
